In the third quarter, the former Hawks star Horford grabbed Howard’s arm for a hard foul. As Howard got back to his feet, he gave Horford a shove. Horford absolutely snapped at Howard, but players and officials reacted quickly enough to hold Horford back. Howard was hit with a technical foul to the delight of Horford and the Boston crowd.
Then, five minutes later, Howard was ejected for … dunking.
Howard let out his frustration from the heated third quarter on the second-effort dunk, but officials T’d Howard up for hanging on the rim. That second technical was an automatic ejection.
Howard finished the game with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
